The Barrie Soccer Club is partnering with Complete Concussion Management (CCMI), Sports Medicine and Mind2Muscle in sharing the following Concussion Awareness module:
Notwithstanding this module and our partnerships with Mind2Muscle, Sports Medicine and Complete Concussion Management (CCMI), the Barrie Soccer Club strongly recommends that team officials, parents and players need to monitor potential signs of concussion including balance difficulties, dizziness, nausea or headaches after a collision or a hard fall. In the event of any or all of these signs, immediately remove the player from play. The player should seek independent medical advice through a qualified service provider, their personal physician, walk in clinic or emergency services noting the nature of their injury so that medical personnel can properly conduct analysis that may include a neurological exam with special attention to the assessment of cognition, memory and balance.
A great resource on concussion Management is the following website:

Please review the BSC Concussion Policy and Return to Play Requirements that are posted under About/Rules & Regulations.

Their newly launched Youth Athlete Development program (YAD) run by Mind to Muscle is designed to build an athlete’s aerobic base, functional strength, balance, coordination, agility and speed within the long-term development model. These fitness fundamentals ultimately allow players to train specific muscles recruited in soccer, while also helping them reduce injuries, improve performance and overall enjoyment, while working together with their teammates. Individual athletes can attend these sessions to augment their training. M2M training programs are conducted by an experienced strength and conditioning coach, with advanced industry credentials in a state-of-the-art 3200 sq. ft. training facility at 500 Huronia Road, Barrie.
In addition, the athlete benefits include sport nutrition, mental performance and advance testing in a facility that provides one stop integrated services. Mind to Muscle is widely known as the choice for Professional, OHL, NCAA and competitive athletes in the region.
To launch the program, BSC players can join the YAD program in advance of winter training. For more information, call 705-737-5097, or Mind to Muscle programs can be found at www.mindtomuscle.ca.
